Jinchao Zhao

Jinchao ZHAO is a Ph.D. candidate in the doctoral program of Art and Architectural History at the University of Virginia. She specializes in visuality, materiality, and transculturality in early medieval Chinese Buddhist art. Her research interests include Buddhist stupa and pagoda worship, Buddhist visual narratives, and early Indian art. She completed her MA in Comparative Literature and World Literature at Peking University and her BA in Chinese Literature at Beijing Language and Culture University. Her research has recently been supported by the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies and the Chiang Chiang-Kuo Foundation.
