Third Intermediate Period
Refers to the period in Egypt comprising the Twenty-first Dynasty through the Twenty-fourth Dynasty; some sources end with the Twenty-fifth Dynasty in 664. Preoccupied with internal rivalries during the Third Intermediate Period, Egypt gradually lost its traditional control of Nubia, located to its south.
