Chola Empire
During this period a new kind of sculpture is made that combines the expressive qualities of stone temple carvings with the rich iconography possible in bronze casting. There is also a flourishing of Hindu and Jain temple architecture in the Deccan and the southern part of the subcontinent through Pallava and Chola rule.
