Postminimalism

This broad term, or it's near synonym, Process art, describes work that was a counter to the then prevailing work of male minimalists such as Donald Judd and Carl Andre. Artists Judy Chicago, Eva Hesse, Lynda Benglis, Faith Ringgold, Jackie Windsor, and Barbara Zucker crafted materials such as latex, rope, fiberglas, plaster, and cloth by hand focusing on process, time, labor, and the historically gendered meanings embedded within them as a Feminist action. In its broader meaning, Post-Minimalism can also refer to work of this era that reacts against the sterile nature of Minimalism or Conceptual art.
