Punic

Carthage, the capital of the expansive Punic Empire was founded by the Phoenicians and prospered until its destruction by the Roman Republic in 146 B.C.E. At its height, Carthage controlled most of the Mediterranean of coast of Africa (not including Egypt), the portions of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, and islands including Corsica, Sardinia, and a bit of Sicily.
