Pre-Raphaelitism
Refers to the style originating from the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood formed in 1848. The style evolved and expanded beyond the members of the group, to include younger artists. Inspired by Italian art prior to Raphael, the style is characterized by Romantic and Medieval themes with moral undertones, bright colors, and detailed compositions.
