Rachel Ruysch's Fruit and Insects with Dr. Saskia Beranek

Dr. Saskia Beranek is a Smarthistory content contributor in the area of Early Modern Dutch and Flemish art. Her research focuses on female patrons and artists in the seventeenth-century Dutch Republic with particular interest in the interaction between paintings, architecture, and garden design. Beranek received an M.A from Duke University and her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and teaches widely on Renaissance and Early Modern topics in both art and architectural history.
