Neo-sumerian / Ur III

The Akkadian Empire collapsed after two centuries of rule and the Third Dynasty of Ur (Ur III) arose soon after. This period is also referred to as "Neo-Sumerian" since it was a ruled by a Sumerian dynasty (from southern Mesopotamia), and comes after the earlier Sumerian period.
