Depictions of Devi

The divine feminine, Devi, has inspired many renderings of her form over centuries. In collaboration with the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, this episode looks at an 18th century miniature painting along with a work by Bhupen Khakhar that diverge in their making and artistic style but stand witness to the strength and supremacy associated with the primeval goddess. Linking collections around the world,

Museums Without Borders is a unique digital collaboration between MAP and institutions in India and across the world. Ranging from six to ten minutes, each episode in this series juxtaposes an artwork from MAP with an object from a partner museum exploring commonalities and differences in style, subject or narrative.
